Prospect Hospice

Teaching an end-of-life hospice how to showcase its amazing work with video.

The brief.

Prospect Hospice provides end-of-life care services for people living across north east Wiltshire.

They offer support during every stage of a life-limiting or terminal illness, providing care for patients both at home and at their Swindon hospice.

The charity's marketing and fundraising team wanted to learn how to film professional-looking videos using their mobile phones.

The solution.

Prospect Hospice offers care and support to their patients and their families free of charge, thanks to the donations they receive from those in their community.

I visited the charity's marketing, communications and fundraising team at their Swindon headquarters and delivered a one-day intensive video training course.

We began the day by learning about the power of video, and by considering how the charity could use videos to achieve its marketing and fundraising goals.
"The team really enjoyed your session and loved making their mini movies."
The team learned how to script and storyboard engaging content, and about the importance of having a 'call to action' at the end of their films.

I then demonstrated how to film professional-looking video footage, and how to capture great-sounding audio. We discussed techniques such as framing, focus and exposure.

Prospect Hospice's team then put their newly developed skills to practice, by filming and editing some of their own short smartphone videos.
